Selling with Square

Connect your shop, choose your products, and let Square handle checkout.

Square looks after products, prices, stock, payments, and orders. Inkling looks after the pages shoppers see. Customers choose their items on your website, then pay on a Square checkout page.

Connect your shop

Ask your website manager to enable Square and connect the shop to your website. They set up the application once. After that, open More tools → Square: Setup, press Connect Square, and sign in on Square's own website. Choose the location whose stock and prices your website should use.

Choose what goes online

In Setup, choose a product to create its draft shop page. Then open Shop pages, add your story and photos, and publish it when ready. Repeat for the products you want online. Products stay private until their pages are published.

Change prices, sizes, colors, and stock in Square. Change the page title, story, and photos in Inkling. Add your welcome message and shipping and returns information under Shop introduction.

Open checkout

Set one shipping charge for each cart, or enter zero for free shipping. Ask your website manager to test the cart, shipping charge, and taxes before opening checkout. A shop marked as a test shop cannot take real payments.

Use Square to confirm payment, arrange shipping, and issue refunds. The Recent orders screen in Inkling is a quick look at your location's orders; an order status alone does not prove it has been paid.

Pause or disconnect

Pause checkout in Setup to stop new checkouts. Disconnect in Square account to remove this website's access. Your pages stay in Inkling. Checkouts already opened may still be payable in Square; close those links there when needed.
