What a content type is
The single idea the rest of Inkling is built on, in plain terms.
A content type is a kind of thing your site holds. A Page. A Post. A Product. A Team member.
For each kind you decide what it is made of — a product has a price and a photo, a post has a body and a cover image — and Inkling builds the form your team fills in. Those entries in your sidebar under Content are your content types.
Why it is worth the five minutes
Because everything downstream follows from it. The editing screens, what your website receives, and what gets checked before something saves are all decided here.
Get it roughly right and your team will fill in forms that make obvious sense. Get it wrong and everyone will be pasting things into a field called “body” forever.
Collections and single pages
When you make a type, you choose one of two shapes. A collection means there can be many — products, articles, team members. One page means there is exactly one — a homepage, your opening hours, an about page.
Choose one page when a second one would not make sense.
