Asking Inky for things
The assistant in the corner, what it can do, and why it always asks first.
Once a provider is connected, a small button appears in the bottom-right corner of every screen. That is Inky.
It receives the screen you are on and the item selected in the visual editor. Check the item named at the top of the conversation before asking for a change.
Ask about one specific item
In the page designer or shared header and footer preview, right-click the words, picture, or section and choose Ask Inky. A conversation opens beside the item on a computer. On a phone, select the item, press Actions, then Ask Inky.
The heading says About: followed by the item's name. You can say “Replace this picture” or “Make this heading shorter.” Shared items also say that they appear across your website. Review the proposed change before applying it.
Talk to it normally
You do not need to learn commands. Ask the way you would ask a colleague.
- “We need a page about our return policy.”
- “Reword the opening of the homepage — it goes on a bit.”
- “Change the email address in the footer to hello@example.com.”
- “Take the old promotion off the menu.”
It proposes; you decide
Inky cannot change anything on its own. It reads your site, works out what you meant, and then shows you the change as a before-and-after. Nothing happens until you press Apply.
When you do, it is saved exactly as though you had typed it yourself — so it appears in the history under your name, and you can undo it like any other edit.
Shared details and failed requests
For the header, navigation, or footer, describe the visible part: “Remove the old promotion from the top navigation.” On a connected site, Inky knows which menu, page, or setting controls it. Changes to a shared part affect every page using it.
Save or discard any unsaved edits before applying a suggestion. After Apply succeeds, the open editor refreshes to the saved version. If Inky loses its connection or returns an error, the message stays in the conversation. Your prepared changes remain available.
An administrator can open Providers and press Test Inky to check whether the connected model can use editing tools. This check does not change website content.
Working with the page layout
On pages connected to the visual editor, Inky can propose moving or hiding existing sections. Try “Hide the testimonials on this page” or “Move the contact section above the news.” It checks which sections your site allows and shows you a change to review.
Some sites also let Inky change colours, text sizes, or spacing on selected parts. It can only change the parts your site manager has connected. A new page design or an unsupported layout change still needs your site builder.
