Draft, review, published

The four states a piece of writing can be in, and why yours is probably a draft.

The draft, review, published screen in Inkling

Everything you write is in exactly one of four states, shown as a coloured label at the top of the editor and in every list.

Why yours is a draft

Because everything starts as one. There is no way to write something and have it go live by accident — publishing is always a separate, deliberate press of a button.

That is why the Publishing panel says Save this page before publishing it when you first start typing. Save creates the draft; Publish makes it public. Two steps, on purpose.

Moving between them

Open anything and look at the Publishing panel on the right.
