Set up Instagram
Prepare a professional Instagram account, link its Facebook Page, and then connect it to Inkling.
Instagram is the fussiest setup because three things must line up: a professional Instagram account, a Facebook Page, and the Meta app used by Inkling.
A personal Instagram account cannot be connected. Switching to a professional account is free and does not delete posts or followers.
Part 1: prepare Instagram on your phone
- In the Instagram app, open the profile, then Menu → Settings and activity → Account type and tools.
- If you see Switch to professional account, press it. Choose Business for a company or Creator for an individual brand.
- Open Edit profile → Page and connect the Facebook Page for the same business. If no Page exists, Instagram can create one, but using the established company Page is safer.
- Open that Page in Facebook and confirm the Instagram account appears in the Page's linked-account settings. This second check catches links the phone app said it saved but did not.
Part 2: connect it through Meta
- In Inkling, open Social media → Network setup → Instagram and keep that tab open.
- Go to developers.facebook.com. You may reuse the same Business app you made for Facebook.
- Make sure the app has Facebook Login. Under Facebook Login → Settings, add Inkling's Instagram Redirect URI to Valid OAuth Redirect URIs and save.
- Under App settings → Basic, copy App ID and App secret into Inkling.
- Press Save and switch on. Go to Social media → Connected accounts, connect Instagram, and approve the Facebook Page linked to the Instagram account.
You are finished when…
The Instagram username appears under Social media → Connected accounts, and its name matches the professional account connected to the Facebook Page.
