Set up Threads

Create the separate Threads app, add yourself as a tester, and accept the invitation on your phone.

Threads uses Meta accounts, but it does not reuse the Client ID and secret from your Facebook setup. It needs its own Threads app and its own pair of values.

Set it up

1. Go to developers.facebook.com, open My Apps → Create App, and choose the option for the Threads API use case.
2. On the app dashboard, add or finish setting up the Threads API product.
3. In the Threads API settings, paste the Redirect URI shown under Inkling → Social media → Network setup → Threads.
4. Copy Threads App ID and Threads App Secret into Inkling. Do not use the Facebook App ID shown elsewhere in Meta's dashboard.
5. In Meta's app roles, add the Threads account you want to use as a tester.
6. On that person's phone, open Threads and accept the tester invitation in the account's website permissions or invitations settings.
7. Back in Inkling, save and switch on Threads, then connect the account under Social media → Connected accounts.

You are finished when…

The correct Threads username appears under Social media → Connected accounts and no tester invitation remains waiting.
