Set up TikTok
Create the TikTok app, turn on Direct Post, test privately, and understand the audit for public posts.
TikTok lets you test before approval, but every post from an unaudited app is Only me. That is a TikTok rule, not a broken Inkling connection.
Allow about 20 minutes for setup. Approval for public posting can take much longer, so finish the test first and apply only when the connection works.
Set it up
- Go to developers.tiktok.com, sign in, and create a developer account.
- Open Manage apps and create an app. Add a clear name, description, square icon, and your website. A person may read these during the audit, so describe the real use: publishing your own company's approved social posts from Inkling.
- Add the Content Posting API product. Turn on Direct Post; otherwise an upload is sent to TikTok as a draft for someone to finish in the phone app.
- Add Inkling's Redirect URI in TikTok's login settings. If TikTok asks you to verify your website, follow its domain-verification step before continuing.
- Copy TikTok's Client key into Inkling's Client ID box. Copy Client secret into the Client secret box.
- Save and switch on the network in Inkling. Connect the TikTok account under Social media → Connected accounts.
- Make a short test post with a video and set visibility to Only me. Send it and confirm it reaches the TikTok account.
- When the private test works, return to TikTok's developer dashboard and submit the app for audit so TikTok can allow public visibility.
You are finished when…
A private test appears on the correct TikTok profile. For public posting, TikTok's dashboard must also show the app and its posting permission as approved.
