Set up YouTube

Create a Google project, enable YouTube uploads, and connect the correct channel.

YouTube setup happens in Google Cloud. The words sound technical, but the job is four forms and one switch. No credit card is needed for normal uploads.

Sign in with the Google account that owns or manages the YouTube channel you want. If one Google login controls several channels, check the channel name carefully during Connect.

Set it up

  1. Go to console.cloud.google.com. Open the project menu at the top, choose New Project, and give it a plain name such as “Company Inkling”.
  2. Open APIs & Services → Library. Search for YouTube Data API v3, open it, and press Enable.
  3. Open APIs & Services → OAuth consent screen. Choose External. Fill in the app name and contact emails. If the app stays in Testing, add the Google account that owns the channel as a Test user.
  4. Open Credentials → Create Credentials → OAuth client ID. Choose Web application.
  5. Under Authorized redirect URIs, paste the Redirect URI from Inkling → Social media → Network setup → YouTube. Press Create.
  6. Copy the displayed Client ID and Client secret into Inkling, then press Save and switch on.
  7. Open Social media → Connected accounts, connect YouTube, choose the Google login, and approve access. Read the channel name Inkling shows before you continue.

You are finished when…

The intended channel appears under Social media → Connected accounts and a short private test video reaches that channel.
